5月16日 Be specific - we can make a differentRecently I found that many people do not bother to be more specific when they inform what problems occurred and expecting something to be done to fix the problems as soon as possible.
For example:
Sometime I received emails or requests stating these ...............
1. "Users reported that they are having problems when accessing the application, please look into this problem and revert as soon as possible"
My questions are :
2. "Client never receive any reply message for his/her request. Please check"
My questions are:
3. "Please check for me what is happen to the system because users complaint of delay in performance"
My questions are:
The users may not know what is happening to the services/system that they are using when it go malfunction but as a support personnel, we should be able to "ask" the users for more specific details so that the relevant parties can speed up their investigation and problem solving time. When everyone starts to report problems in very general statement, the problem may not be solved in time or may be ignored by the solving parties because they might not found the root of the problems occurred. The cycle will come back to us as a support personnel because users will continue complaining to us and lost patience with us. Who will face the "anger" from users/clients when the problems not solve?
5月5日 The King and His PeopleI used to visit my old friends at thier office which happen to be a bank branch. A friend of mine told me that, he is very disappointed with the atitude and mentality of the new generation of bank staff. According to him, nowaday, clerical staff only will do what is being told and not more than that. Officers need to give reminder constantly or else the work will be left there.
Being a senior in the branch, he felt that the enthusiasm towards work and positive mentality is no more important to this new generation of staff. They joined the bank because the bank called them for interview before other companies do. Once they are in the bank, they are being pampered with the stablity of their work life because bank provides better remuneration to its staff compare to other companies. Benefits such as : lower housing loan interest rate, lower car loan interest rate, medical leave, compensation etc. The last time bank offer VSS(Voluntery Seperation System) was 4-5 years ago. Since Malaysian economic has recovered after recession, banking sector is now actively recruit new people to expand their business and compete with foreign banks.
There is a Chinese proverb said "山高皇帝远" means the king's palace is too far from his people and he will not know what is happening to them. Any big companies and government departments will always have its own bureaucratic system to follow. Same goes to banking institution. Browse to any bank's internet banking web site, you can find corporate info link of the bank. All the people whose name published at the corporate info section are important people of the bank and they manage the bank with the help of their "ministers" below them which will further escalate the power to their donwline and the process go on. A bank staff especially lower ranking staff eg: clerical, middle ranking officers may never meet all these corporate section people in real during their whole working life in the bank. Their career path and development are largerly depend to their managers who are reporting to several levels of top managers above them. In other word, the managers are still having a big gap from those coporate people. No one actually know what you had done during your working life unless you had made a "suprise" and done something "big" enough to be noticed by the bank.
Hence, the conclusion is:
Well, if you are a new bank staff, and you notice some of your colleagues who are working very hard for years and they are doing the same work as what you are doing now because all of them were a "risk taker" before this, which conclusion you will jump into? 3月31日 Game and PlayersToday is the last day of the first quarter of year 2007.
A discovery made by me is human get bored pretty fast than I can expect........How should I put it...
When there is a new game invented, all players are very exited and want to join the fun of playing the game. Game started with a lot of stumbling over the stones on the journey and not goes well as planned. However, players are still putting high hope on finishing the game and initially everyone is still very eager to correct whatever that is not right and continue the game with full enthusism. After all the struggling and failing down, players begin to master the game and continue to next level as expected. Too much of failling and struggling begins to make players tired and boring and the feeling of leaving the game arise but they still need to finish at least the current level. Finally, when completing current level, players begin to look for other new games and try not to continue to the next level even though these players are still tie with the current game contract.
As time passed, the intention of leaving the game become stronger and stronger and influence the other players as well. The game need to continue and the game initiator needs to find new players to replace the absence. Now the game is tougher to continue with lesser players and more time needed for new players to familiarise the game.
Why players dare to aviod the participation while they are still bound to the game contract that signed before enroll in the game? Is the process of the game that scare players away? Is the game is too tough to continue or not worth to continue?
Think I must.......
3月7日 Mentality on Demand and SupplyAttending the Java Sun Tech Days 2006-2007 and met Father of Java Mr. James Gosling is one of the greatest honour for everyone who involve in Java technology either on work or study. Having said so, I was shock to see how my nation people behaved in this seminar.
My colleagues and I attended the JFS, Visual Web Pack and NetBeans seminar of this event today. The speaker was great, he talked about JSF and showed the audiences how easy the development can be done using NetBeans and the magic that JSF can do. Towards the end of his speech, he gave a few Java branded T-shirts to those who came on stage talking and exchange knowledge with him. Finally when everyone left the stage, I saw 1 guy and 1 lady were "calculating" the T-shirts that they managed to get from the speker just now. What I can see is, each one of them had one T-shirt on their hand(not sure about their goodie bags). However, what suprise me is, the guy knowing that the T-shirts are actually kept under the table on the stage, he went and took 2 more T-shirt beneath the table without any permission and both of them walked out from the conference room with much satisfaction and happiness. (The table was actually covered by a piece of red clothing material in the front)
Is this act consider "stealing"? From the economic lessons that I learned, rare supply will have greater demand. Java branded T-shirt is "rare" and hence the demand will be high and when the T-shirts are free, it will have higher demand from consumer. My point is, why the 2 of them took the T-shirt without permission from the event organizer? If anyone of the event organizer would had noticed this, what will be their impression to our country people? There are a lot of foreigners attending the event and our government always remind its citizen to potrait good impression to the foreigners as a free advertisment to promote about our country and these 2 people had just "helped" to "impair" our impression.
How can a nation become strong if its citizen mentality is low and inferior? Who or what should be blamed for the "act"? Government? Education? Environment? Culture?
3月2日 A Humble Road User's ExperinceBeing a road user, my dreadful experince was yesterday night when a motorist suddenly speeding from 20 meters away towards me while me making a turn into the road near my house's junction. The road was clear without any vehicle for at least 20 meters, and this "insane" motorist came out suddenly was speeding faster and faster towards my car. As he/she came nearer, he/she make a corner turn in front of my car. My heart was almost fall to the floor when I saw this "fear factor" performance. It was lucky for both of us because I gave my way. If I did proceed without stoppping, the motorist will never perform his/her 45 degree corner turning but he/she will end up to be at God's side forever.
Why are such irresponsible people do exist in this world and manage to get their driving licence to perform "fear factor" actions on the road? These people are not only causing problems to themselves but also implicating other innocent people as well.
Where is the authorities while these irresponsible group of people performing their life threatening actions?
When can human "dispose" selfishness within him/herself for mankind sake? 2月20日 Wisdom Born of Experience2 day before Chinese New Year arrival, our project passed the UAT for the new phase commenced early of Jan 2007. Once again, our team had proved to have better quality to accept challanges and faced adversity. Bravo....to all my team mates!!!!
While we were standby during UAT period, the team members were "reviewing" own past records and talked about how we should face the future. We laughed about our past in this project and all the difficulties and sleepless nights we had due to our inexperience, we were sad because we were not able to turn back the clock. Although we are better now but reality is cruel. Human tends to remember others' failures more than success stories. We are happy because we grow up a lot with all our mistakes and success.
A Chinese proverb said "经一事,长一智", which means "wisdom is gain from experince". I am glad I had the chance to gain more wisdom, so do everyone in the team.
A long Chinese New Year break will be a good time for everyone to relax and recharge, working life will resume after 1 week, as such Yuen...........wishes everyone “新年快乐,身体健康, 步步高升, 事事如意“ -- Happy Chinese New Year with good health and good fortune accompany you in all your undertaking!!! GongXi! GongXi!
1月27日 New Learning Year 2007A good year to start with by proving to the client we are not that "stupid" at all. Do not under estimate our limit!!
New year new starts but same old problems appear one after another within the project. Who to blame is not important but the team is getting weary and tired of everything happened. Endless waiting due to bureaucrats happened within the bank. We are still very patient and able to face the adversity with much laughter and positive thinking to boost up our spirit and stay positive.
Looking back to our failure last year, the team members had openly criticized each other weaknesses and work together to improve from experince. We are now getting and learn to be better from last year, we will handle matters with due diligent. While team members thinking that I will get agitated easily, my project partner who had always a patience person released his mild anger in the last meeting because of all the annoyance we received.
Being a non sales person, we need to take care things without offend the business team but can it be vice verse? Is it really a universal trend that in a project, technical people always need to struggle for the target that sales person promised during closing a deal? Money is everything?(I choose not to believe but I may need to reconsider my thought). To what degree we can be professional enough to satisfy every parties without offended anyone internally and externally?
Learn we must.....learn we must........
12月30日 30th Dec 2006Another 32 hours for year 2006 to come to an end and year 2007 will continue the new leaf of calender. Like it or not, everything and everyone will grow 1 year older without further negotiation. Time gives no mercy.
2006 = 365 days of sad + happy & laughter + tears & stress + relaxing & etc.
Company annual dinner held last Thursday at Jogoya, Starhill. Managed to meet everyone of the 'family' but sad to know that there may be another farewell for some-one, some-two or some-three or some-<anyNumber>. Living out side the 'family' expose to a lot of experiences, sweet and bitter of working life is never be the same when you are living outside the 'family'.
A long break for everyone thanks to mathematic equation of calender calculation. 1st of Jan 2007 fall on Monday with Hari Raya Aidiladha holiday replacement on 2nd Jan 2007. For those who are not working on Saturday, there will be 4 days of long break before come back to workstation with in new year. A long break to prepare our new list of year 2007 resolution..........or a good time to flash back what had we went through for the year 2006 and what had we learnt...............or a good time to have good rest before starting a new journey.
There is a Chinese proverb saying that "休息是为了走更远的路" : " Rest is the way to go farther "...........well.......I would like to go farther of course.....many places to venture and many books that I want to read and also many documentations that I need to prepare when the bank open for business and many challenges ahead with debates and arguements and managing.......wow.......with such a long journey to continue..........how can I no give myself some good rest during the long holiday?
Adiós..............
12月23日 Lesson from The ApperenticeThe Apperentic" is one of the few reality shows that can catch my eyes on it. The reason that I watched the show is I found many interesting yet cruel side of human. The show always started with 16 contestant that want to be Trump's apperentice to involve in multimillion dollar, edge competitive businesses and it is the dream job of the life time. One thing that I always found interesting is, it doesn't matter how the team won in the task, as long as the team wins. However, the losing team will be questioned by Donald Trump on the reasons of losing and someone or more than one person (the maximum I watched is 4 persons) will be fired after the trial. The key point here is, in business, if you win, people will look up to you; but if you failed, most of the time, all your efforts that had been put in will be concluded as the factors of you losing the game.
There was a tough meeting I went through with my boss and project partners yesterday at the client's office(ie: bank). The project has not been going too well and deadline being missed. The meeting was hold to "justify" whether the project can proceed to the production before 2007. Many parties are involved in the meeting; from the bank, there have project team members, application support member, UAT members and us from the vendors. In the meeting, bank project team chief manager is going through a list of problem logs that the UAT team given to the vendor and asking why such a log being raised and why we(ie: vendor) did not solve the problem once and for all. Everyone was keeping quite and only the UAT team manager trying to "describe" what was going on with all the problem logs raised. All the explanation given by the UAT manager are trying to "cover up" on the faults that had been made and trying to "divert" the responsibility to the vendors. Due to some reasons, my boss and project partners were quite most of the time and I try to be at the same pace as they are. However, when come to an explanation that the manager trying his very best to push the responsibilities to us, I got no choice but to voice out and questioned him back to inform the "boardroom" of what is the true scenario.
Our team members slept less than 5 hours a day for more than 2 months to meet the deadline of this project. With very limited requirements given, we had all went through a tough time to gather requirements, pushing for test data, pushing for process flow and etc from the client and at the same time proceed with our development. One of the BIGGEST mistakes that the bank did to us is, their UAT team was using an OUTDATED version of data (a list of SMS reply messages for different scenario) to test on our system and claim that they are correct all the time. And for that stupid mistake of their, the UAT team had given us substantial amount of problem logs and telling everyone that we are not up to the standard. After the bank project managers found out this mistake, they just tried to cover up themselves and give the UAT the latest version of the data and ask them to re-test. The "most professional" act that the bank did was NEVER apologise to us(ie: vendor) but keeps on telling everyone that we are not up to the standard.
Many blames had been put onto us(ie: vendors) for the delayed and missed deadline. Refreshing back my memory on The Apperentice, we are now at the losing side, althought the game is not over yet. Whatever the losing team say will be seen as "excuses" to cover up even though you have a live camera following and recording every efforts that you had made to save the game.
Anyway, what had passed is a history. We are unable to change the history, but we can take the opportunity to improve ourselve to win the game back. I had learnt a lot from this game. We need to learn from the mistakes we made during the course of the project and not to repeat it in our future undertaking. In business, most often, every parties will try to cover up their own mistakes made and tends to push the blames to the other parties especially when there are external parties involved. We gotto to be stern and strong to voice out and stand firm on our decisions. Do not let the opponent to have a chance to ruin us and we need to be always alert on all situtation. We need to have the project information on our finger tip and any decisions made during the meeting must be notify to everyone that involve in the game. Trust me, those notifications had saved our team from landing into bigger difficulties because of the bank's project team negligence and for this reason, the bank project team tell my boss saying that I am a very defensive person. (Anyway, I take this as a compliment
Sometime I wonder, is it true that the bank people are envy with our team's high and cheerful spirit that we have all the time. Our team has always been in harmony no matter how bad the situation is. They cannot see us fighting or blaming each other for the mistakes made by any of the team members. My project partner always giving us confidence and boost our spirit to help each other to achive the same goal. We are a self-manage team with a good sense of commitment and responsibility.
May The Force be with MeSame problem occurred in the project, made me replied an "angry" email. The weather is cold today after heavy rain but my body temperature is high. What will happen tomorrow, we will find out when the time has come. In time, I will learn to trust my feelings. Then, I will be invincible.
I was beginning to wonder if you'd got my message.
To question, no time there is.......... Do not hesitate, show no mercy. Do what must be done............... If into the security recordings you go, only pain will you find.
The dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be... unnatural. .........It is with great reluctance that I have agreed to this calling...............Only a Sith deals in absolutes. I will do what I must........... Much to learn, I still have.
10月27日 WeaknessesFinally today I realise that I have a lot of "weaknesses" in me which is already reaching the "severe" alarm.
Let me further explain myself here. The story begins when I met this so called "very imporant and dedicated" bank staff who is holding a key position in a so call "Security Unit" department. I had heard of her "powerful" influence that almost everyone who deals with her is scare of her tremendously. Her words are veto and what she wants is what you need to fulfil.
First incident:
We started out the project with very minimum requirements from the bank(which I always regret why is this happened). However, we did our best to "imagine" and be constructive on the development. When the development reached user acceptance test, this "important and dedicated" bank staff starts questioning the vendor, why this not done? why this not being implemented & etc. Being an honest person, I politely informed her that, there is no such requirements given to implement any of the "things" that she questioning me about. Guess what.......my nightmare begins.......... She pointed at me and starts lecturing me telling how important are those requirements to the bank and need to comply to Central Bank guidelines. In my boiling heart, I was thinking, if those requirements are so important to the bank and must be enforced to comply with Central Bank guidelines, why no one from the bank ever communicate to us when we first started the project? If she is so "dedicated" as she appears, why she never make sure her staff communicate these requirements to vendor? My weakness : Not constructive and no initiative taken to gather the so called "important" requirements.
Second incident:
After some mental and emotional struggling on the first incident, my second nightmare reached the doorstep. I was told to document all those important requirements for her to verify against her so called Central Bank guidelines. I was in traumatic shock when I heard of such request, because under normal logical circumstances, such important requirements that deal with Central Bank guidelines must come from the Bank and not the vendor. Why is this happen the other way round which is same as why the sun suddenly rise in the West and set in the East today? Again I politely tell her why I shouldn't produce such document, she gave me second lecture and telling me that is my duty and not the bank. I consulted my boss, and we decide not to confront with her, we started to prepare the document with full commitment under very high body temperature. My weakness : I do not have positive mindset in fulfilling client's requests.
Third incident: After I submitted the document, I had my worst nightmare in my life. The document was rejected with the comments : flows and details are not correct, terms used are too technical and she cannot understand, English grammer is lousy and etc. In shorts, nothing is correct with the document and everything is wrong. Numerous changes had been made on the document to satisfy her "standard". Hours and days had been spent on it, until one day, the document is finally reaching to the signoff stage. I felt so relief that finally i can get out from this nightmare. In the process of amending the document, I am grateful to another bank staff who had given me many guidence and advices. I truely appreciate his help. Finally, the document was submitted last 2 months and I thought it had been signoff. However, I received a bad news today during my meeting with the bank saying that the document is still not yet signoff beacuse she told everyone that the document is still full of grammer mistakes and she is 'not my English teacher'. I am speechless and had second traumatic shock.
What I dislike is, she likes to say "I am not your English teacher" when reading my document. In fact, I hate to hear this arrogant statement. Come on..........if she cannot even produce the "important" requirements document herself and never make sure her staff communicate those requirements to the vendor, what is her English communication skills rating? If her English is so good and English is so important in delivering the information to the readers, why not she provide us the document which should be the correct procedure?
I admit that my English still needs a lot of improvement. However, I think all the time repeating and telling everyone the statement "I am not your English teacher" is very sacarstic and is not the professional way of acting by a so called "dedicated" bank staff. Most important, the statement hurts, it really hurts..........
My weakness : Poor English. Need to go back to primary school and starts from a, b, c...again
Another weekend coming, I plan to mourn and "face the wall" to review my weaknesses. I hope I can be a better person and my English does improve greatly when 1st November 2006 comes............... 10月23日 The Three Laws of RoboticsIsaac Asimov ---- "The Three Laws of Robotics"
First Law : No robot may harm a human being or through inaction allow a human being to come to harm
Second Law : A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders conflict with he First Law.
Third Law : A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
It seems that a robot's life is not as easy as we think it is. Human needs robots to be intelligent enough to carry out dangerous, tedious and repeative jobs with the fears of robots become too intelligent that out of human control.
On second thought: is it human nature to be greedy and selfish at the same time? or is it human nature to feel insecure when something more intelligent exists? can rules and regulations really help humans to reduce their insecure feeling and fullfill their greediness by hidding selfishness?
Think deeply human must........... 10月8日 Accept what is not acceptable记住该记住的,忘记该忘记的。改变能改变的,接受不能接受的。
Remember what should be remembered
Forget what should be forgot
Change what can be changed
Accept what is not acceptable
Very simple phrase but trust me......it is not easy to implement.
Years ago when I worked as a bank teller, the incidents that always happened was inappropriate arangement by the assistant manager to allocate sufficient tellers at work during lunch time. That really boiled my temperature to the maximum bacause when there was insufficient tellers during lunch time which is a peak hour and I was always the customer "target" (ie: customer scolded me because they waited too long and 2 times customer throw they passbooks on my face....sigh
My reaction when scolded by customer was to "divert" my anger to the officers in charge during that hour. I will showed my "angry' face to the officers working that time and become very unfriendly with them and at the same time forced myself to smile in front of the customer. However, despite of my angry emotion within me, I still served my customer with full commitment and courtesy and always made my customer felt "right" when they were in the bank and this made the mangement took me for granted. Almost every lunch time, I will feel very unfair and angry, I voiced out my concern to the management but nothing was done and my anger continue days after days.
Until one day, suddenly I realised that, why must I suffered myself with things that I unable to change? why must I "spoil" my health with unnecessary anger? When I started to "accept what is not acceptable", my mind is free and no more anger within me. The point is, I cannot change the management decision although I tried, but I can choose to adapt to the situation provided it doesn't violate my principles. I learnt to become more flexible in handling my emotion. Believe me or not, when you know when not to get angry and be liberal, you will become happier and healthier because you will not be bothered by small stuffs. 9月30日 只能修正自己,不能修正别人I had bought a book titled "Be Your Personal Best", it's Chinese title is " 做最好的自己". The book authored by the founding president of Google China, Kai-Fu Lee, former Microsoft Vice President of Interactive Services. It is specially written to answer the doubts and questions on China youngsters' common worried about how to be successful in life after graduating from universities or colleges, what it takes to achieve one's visions and dreams, etc.
The author specifically mentioned that "success" in life doesn't mean that a person need to be wealthy and famous. A success person is measured by his/her contribution to the society, to other people and to him/herself, whether or not the contribution benefits mankind and whether the person can achieve the utmost happiness and be a better person from his/her choices made.
One of my favourite sections that enlighten me is "we can only change ourself but cannot change other people" 只能修正自己,不能修正别人. The author explained that, in many instances, people that we interact with may misunderstood our response or behavoiur on certain actions of ours. Before we start blaming and thinking that others are bias to us, let us think back what we had done that "provoked" the misunderstood because we are the one who "delivered" the "incorrect" message about ourself. Instead of arguing to "straighten" our standpoint, we should communicate openly and use our actions to prove our standpoint, this will open the opportunity for people to know us better and avoid further misunderstanding in the future. We should always be liberal minded to others but remain self-criticism. When we need to influnce others with our reasons, change our way of presenting the ideas but not force others to change their way to "obey" us.
This reminded me on the meetings I had with my client, ie: the bank. There are some common terms that had been used within the project by both parties in all the discussions and meetings. I was assigned to prepare documentations for the project and for some unknown reasons, the bank keeps on rejecting my documentation and saying that I did not reflect the true scenario. Until one day, I made an appointment with the bank project team member to find out what are the "wrongs" that I had made in the documentation. To my suprise, during the "discovery" process, I realised that, both parties are having 2 different understanding and interpretation on the same term used because we are looking at the same thing from different angle. At first, I tried to convince the bank project team member that my interpretation is correct. However, my effort was failed. Everyone tends to have thier own world evolve around them, so does my client. Having realised this situation, I had no choice but to change my way of conveying my ideas to suit my client. It was a hard process to me, but both parties achieved a win-win situation.
Am I at the losing side by changing my way of presenting my idea? Looking at the "result" of the discussion, I completed the documentation and my client gets what they want. Am I a successful person in this experince? Based of Mr. Kai-Fu Lee definition of successful person, I still do not feel the utmost happy of what I did although my "changed" "saved" the day. The conclusion is, I still need to "upgrade" my mindset to be more liberal before I can claim that I am a successful person. 9月17日 The Road To The TopLast week was the first time I been to Cameron Highlands. It was an enjoyable company trip with a lot of laughters and fun until our neighbours in the resort next to our apartment need to ask for our favour to lower our voice bacause they want to sleep.
I remembered my collegue was asking me which tea plantation that I wanted to visit the most. Without thinking twice, my answer to her was ...."I want to visit the Boh plantation where the advertisment on TV always shows all the tea plants are planted beside the steep hills with breathtaking view" Then my collegue said, "Ok, but the road to that Sungei Palas Tea Center is a bit trudging". Roads to Cameron Highlands is famous for it twists and turns that require professional drivers to reach the destination safetly. In my thought, her statement is just another reflection of the same roads we passed through since first day at Cameron.
To my suprise, when we were on our way to Sungei Palas Tea Center, the roads are really challenging to all the drivers especially to city drivers. The road to the plantation is so narrow and bad that it is actually safe if only "one car driving in one way at one time". However, all the vehicles are using the same road to the same destination and there are veichles from the opposite that wanted to leave the plantation after their visit. (P/S: vehicles = buses, lorries, trucks, cars). All the vehicles are "squeezing" on the same road and very often the "leaving" vehicles are very near to the hill side and passengers who sit on the left hand seats can feel the "height and danger" of his/her "position" Experince bus drivers and truck drivers will give guidance to small vehicles if they see any of the small vehicles "goes a bit out of track".
This experince gives me some thoughts. Cameron Highlands is a tourist attraction famous for its cool weather and foremost it provides the nation fresh vegetables, fruits and flowers. It has various tea plantation farms and starwberry farms which attracts tourists all over the world. However, the road conditions to Cameron Highlands is vastly different and very trudging, adventurous and dangerous as compare to Genting Highland. Lives at Cameron Highlands is simple as well as its inhabitants living and road conditions. People are earning their living by travelling in such a bad road conditions daily which may danger their life in order to raise their families. I have no favourtism on either of the Highlands but the way I see is, why the roads travel by the hardworking people is much tougher than the roads travel by people that are enjoying their lives? Why is there no authorities that is willing to improve the roads conditions for the safety of its inhabitnats and tourists? Is money the root of this problem? How economists values lives and revenue earned? What are the "requirements" for money to be spend on improving ones living conditions?
Behind all the breathtaking scenery, there hides "challenging roads" to travel to the top. The next time, i see Boh advertisment on TV, i will remember the "roads" that "hikes" by all who earn their hard living at Cameron Highlands. The same roads that I traveled for the purpose of travelling and fun. 9月9日 Customer Is Always RightAnother week passed from my first blog. Life is getting more confusing than last week. I guess the "granted" long holiday doesn't help much in manipulating my life in term of physcology and physically. Haha....human are the most ungrateful creatures in the world.
Spent two and a half day in the client's site "looking" and "observing the client's staff behaviour. It is proven that the world is never being fair to anyone and for sure not to me.....sigh...let me explain my point here.
When I worked in the bank, my manager said.."Rule no 1: Customer is always right, Rule no 2: If customer is wrong, refer to rule no 1". I "obeyed" the rule during my banking life and I think I had did my part to make the bank customer to feel right when they are in the bank. I "dreamt" about leaving the bank to enjoy the "customer is always right" privilege. Now I left the bank, and I deal with the bank in my course of work. However, my "dream" never come true and the worst is, I still need to "obey" the rule and this time my customer(ie: the bank) is "abusing" my patient to the limit.
Almost every mistakes or misjudgement in the project are vendor's fault. Newton's third law "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction" is failed in my scenario. The very first time, my collegue "react" back to the bank, the whole bank project team nearly boycott us and my boss needs to step out and put out the fire. Insufficient requirement given to the project, was blamed on vendor lack of initiative and not constructive to come up with a solution. Bank's project team member insufficient knowledge on certain technical terms in the project, vendor was blamed using bombastic words and many more incidents that are really make my "temperature" and blood pressure raise drastically.
Despite all the high temperature and blood pressure, I had took all these with much patient and always think positive on the reasons and lesson to be learnt from the "abusing". I wonder, why I have no rights to enjoy "customer is always right" privilege? When can I enjoy this privilege? Why do I have to always put myself in the user shoes and not the other way round? Why I have to tolarate with all these abusing? I do hope that lessons are learnt from all these experince, but it really wearies me.
The world is not fair and that is why the earth has different elements exist on it. Maybe I should mourn for 2 days again on the unfairness of the world. 9月1日 My First BlogTo blog or not to blog...........is the choice that i struggle for quite sometime
世界其实很简单,复杂的是人 == reflect the true scenario of mankind all over the world. Despite we always sighed for the complication that we landed into, but we tends to repeat the same thing and landed into another bigger complication.
Recent working life made me think a lot about everything that i am involving in. I hope to learn lessons from it and make myself a better person if not the best. Human is the thoughest "object" to be managed. Very often, during the course of my work, things happened that can made me "mourn" for some time but when think of it after 2 days, I laughed at myself for my silly "mourning" over things that are out of my control....What a waste of my brain cells.
A long weekend for 4 days leaves was "granted".....woo..hoo....a good time to re-arrange my "messy" life and thought (i hope I will not use up 80% of the time to sleep.....haha)....and maybe the time has come for me to start my own blog and sort out my thoughts as well. |
